New Header

This picture is of Layla and her cousin Ethan. My mom's friend Matthew Mar captured them playing together. He's about a month older than her and just the cutest little guy! They're so cute together. Layla still steals his binky and he'll pull out her bows, but I'm sure they'll be great pals later.

A PRE-Birthday Party!

Okay, so Layla's ACTUAL Birthday is Aug. 31st. But I figured we won't be around all our family and friends in WA then, so we should throw a party NOW! We originally thought we'd be moving back to Idaho around the second week of Aug. so that's why I planned it so early.

It was a cute garden/flower themed party. Really pink and girly! I made the cake and it turned out alright. I was stressed about it last night/early this morning, but I really did have a lot of fun with it. A lot of people came to celebrate and share in all the excitement. I forgot to take pictures during the actual party (I don't really know how I could have forgotten), but my mom took a lot. These are from right before people arrived.
The finished project (Top layer was strawberry cake and the bottom was chocolate)
Layla's individual cake (white cake with rasperry filling and icing)
Decorations
Pin the Petal on the Flower! It was a hit!
More decorations (maybe I went a little over the top :)
The Birthday Girl (she wore this little outfit for the first little bit, so cute! I made that tutu too! I thought it turned out quite nicely)
In action
I am going to be so sad when her chub disappears!
This is a blurry photo, but I liked it still.
Mom: "Layla, show me how old you are!"
Layla: "This many!!"
Mom: "Close..."
(okay, so that didn't really happen)
I wish this picture wasn't blurry
My baby is mad, why you ask??
Her Daddy broke her wand!
GRRRRRR.... "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to..."
There will be more soon of her actual party!

The Cake...

It turned out pretty darn ugly... but hey, it's just a cake and it will be eaten... right?? Well, let me know what you think. I really liked it up until the pink icing. I couldn't find the right tip for the piping and I guess it makes a BIG difference if you don't have the right tools. Should I buy a back up cake? Let me know your opinion... I really won't get my feelings hurt.

I know it's really late...

But, I just feel like sharing a funny situation. A moment ago, I came into our room and noticed that Tanner is FAST asleep on the bed (fully clothed I might add, including shoes, but that's not the unusual part) As I was just undressing and getting into my jammies, he springs up and looks at me. Me, being startled by this ask, "what??". He quickly replies with urgency, "MY balloons are downstairs!!". I look at him, waiting for him to realize that he's sleep talking/crazy and he says, "Are YOURS????". I started cracking up laughing... partially because I'm really tired. He looks at me again and mutters, "what the heck" and rolls over, falling right back into the deepest of sleep. I have the silliest husband, who is always telling me that I am the one who talks in my sleep. I know now that he is just as guilty.
 I love him so much.

Blinded by the Light

Layla loves playing in Grandma's bathroom, by her BIG tub, but the sun was shining through the blinds in her face today! This is her new famous scrunchie face. (it kinda looks like she has a moustache in this picture too!)
My striped baby!
Mom opened the blinds...
But OH! it's still SO bright!
Here's another picture of "the face" from the same day, as proof that she does it all the time!

A Sundress Kind of Day

I love this little outfit on Layla. It's so summery and cute. We did spend a lot of time outside today, playing and finding pretty flowers. Every time I'd take her to a flower she'd start sniffing the air really fast, in, out, in, out, until we reached it. It was really cute to see that she was picking up on what Mommy was doing. Although when I'd lean her in towards the flower she'd just try to eat it.

Simply cute!
A little tounge action... she's been sticking her tounge out a lot lately, not sure why exactly.
Look at this chubbilicious face! I love my little cheese puff!
Layla and I have the exact same hair. I even had the same hairline at her age. Super straight!
Those chompers have gotten her into some trouble lately... and I have some bite marks to prove it!

Photo Shoot

My friend Stacy Jacobsen is a very talented photographer, who happens to live next door to my in-laws! Layla had her pictures taken today, but wasn't the best model, wiggling, and crawling away every two seconds. Stacy managed to capture some great shots though, she's got a great eye. Visit her blog to see for yourself!
